Hafsa, its not the concept bcoz in homogenous equation every term is equal not that right hand side and left hand side are equal, as in 3rd eq. of motion 2aS = vf^2 -vi^2 , the dimension will be L^2/T^-2 = (L^2/T^-2) - (L^2/T^-2), in this equation every term is equal not that when we substract 2 terms then they will be equal to left hand side of equation, so it cant be the reason which you are saying...
